Summer Update... Is this the end for Purple Sweet Pea and plot 206a

September 3, 2017

I'm going to be honest the allotment has been neglected this summer. we had planted a lot in the spring and then we of left it to do its own thing as life kinda took over. Though out the summer months both my dad and myself really thought about giving the allotment up thinking we did not have any time for it. Busy with work, my sons and just getting on with life.

The cauliflower , onions and garlic had gone to seed and the weeds had took over the plot to the extent we got a very stern letter form the council give us two weeks to get the plot in to shape or face an eviction notice.

However, after a weekend at the plot that's not the case at all. Although the plot has been left to its own devices over the summer we were over whelmed by its beauty disguised by the weeds and the masses of produce we managed to pick this weekend.

Runner beans, squashes, massive sunflowers, a glut of potatoes, tomatoes,  the best carrots we have ever grown, brambles, elderberries, apples, cabbages and to top it of masses of the most tasty strawberries.

No way are we letting go of this allotment.

So we have cleared the cobwebs from the shed and grafted all weekend to get the allotment back it to shape and we couldn't be happier. I've even invested in some new bulbs to plant around the planned new pond area.

So here's to a fresh start...
