A beautiful day at the allotment yesterday, early start at 9am but it was lovely and crisp. It was the first day Dad has been to the plot in a while.
Dad had plans to fix the shed door that had begun to fall apart and I planned to sort the green house and sow the broad beans. After mending the door dad wasn't happy that it was catching slightly on the door frame, so he removed it and put some hard graft in with the saw, in the rain to take some wood off the bottom.
While Dad was busy with the door I cleared the area i wanted to plant the broad beans dug it over and tilled it. The area I chose this year for the broad beans we have not planted in all the time we have had the allotment so I was very pleased that for this first time ever I have used it.
I sowed Broad Bean Aquadulce Claudia a hardy green variety and Karmazyn which have a green pod and bright pink beans. Ive grown both these for a few years now and have always had great results.
By the time I had cleared the plot dad had re-attached the door and even added my purple sweet pea purple heart. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.
